Job Description:
SUMMARY

The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects and failures in various golf course maintenance equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

Properly communicate needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent.
Maintain records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment.
Purchase repair parts and replacement supplies needed to service equipment.
Schedule and direct the work assignments.
Maintain safety as a top priority and maintain a clean service area and maintenance building.
Instruct and train golf course maintenance workers regarding preventative maintenance and the proper cleaning of the safe operation of equipment.
Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work.
Maintain a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment.
Keep a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment.
Spot check equipment for performance on the course, make emergency repairs to equipment on the course and service or supervise servicing of equipment prior to use.
Regulate employees’ use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant superintendent, if needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of maintenance experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment.
Knowledge of the care and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
Ability to multi-task.
Manage multiple projects.
Skilled in the use of equipment repair tools.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Maintain a working relationship with management and co-workers.
Must be able to obtain a Cherokee Nation Gaming License.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals. May require handling of objects than can weigh up to 50 lbs.
